TAURINE is a product based on taurine (2-aminoethanesulfonic acid). Taurine is an amino acid in free form, of the most abundant in the body, it is not incorporated into proteins, but nevertheless plays a decisive role in numerous important physiological functions. Taurine is present in significant amounts in the retina, skeletal muscle and cardiac tissue. Taurine is synthesized in the liver from L-cysteine, through various enzymatic steps, so it is considered a non-essential or conditionally essential amino acid because in some cases the endogenous production is insufficient and needs to be provided to through diet or in the form of food supplement. Taurine is involved in a wide range of biological processes. Among the main effects that have been investigated include its antioxidant activity, especially relevant at the mitochondrial level. Taurine acts as a powerful antioxidant, prevents intracellular calcium overload and restores levels of antioxidant enzymes which makes the cell more resistant to toxic attacks. TAURINE is available in tablets of 1000 mg per tablet.
